Subject:    Call for Editor - Journal of the Wooden O

CALL FOR EDITOR: Journal of the Wooden O

The Journal of the Wooden O is a peer-reviewed academic journal publishing essays and articles focusing on all things Shakespeare including but not limited to Shakespearean texts, Shakespeare in performance, the adaptation of Shakespeare's works (film, fiction, visual and performing arts), Elizabethan and Jacobean culture and history, and Shakespeare’s contemporaries. Given the range spanned by articles appearing in the journal there is no restriction on the editor’s own area of expertise.

JWO is published annually by Southern Utah University Press in cooperation with the SUU Center for Shakespeare Studies and the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Articles published in the JWO are indexed in the MLA International Bibliography, World Shakespeare Bibliography and appear full-text in EBSCO International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance, Academic Search Premiere and Academic Search Ultimate.

Since the Journal's aim is to encompass various forms of scholarship, it seeks to publish papers based on textual analysis, practitioner experiences, dramaturgy, history and other areas that offer insight, understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare’s life, works and times.

Editor Job Description:

The editor is responsible for preparing one issue a year. This includes widely distributing a call for submissions, organizing blind peer reviews, liaising with contributors and the copy editor, and working with the editorial board. The editor is encouraged to be an active and visible scholar in the field. The editor is also strongly encouraged to attend the annual Wooden O Symposium held in early August in Cedar City, Utah, USA.

Workload varies throughout the year, but the editor should expect to devote several hours a week to the journal during peak times (during the symposium, the week leading up to and following the annual submission deadline in October, copy editing and production time during January-February). Previous editorial experience preferred.

If you would like to be considered, please send a one-page letter of introduction detailing your interest and your qualifications for the position. Also include a current CV.  Send to Matt Nickerson, (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

Applications are due by Dec 15, 2018.
