The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 30.082 Saturday, 2 March 2019
Date: March 1, 2019 at 3:44:03 PM EST
Subject: London Shakespeare Seminar
The final session in the current season of the London Shakespeare Seminar organized by King's College London is:
Monday 4 March 2019 5.15-7pm at University College London’s Foster Court, room 229 (the student common room), on Gower St, Bloomsbury, London WC1E 6BT. The speakers are me, Gabriel Egan (De Montfort), on “Scholarly Method, Truth, and Evidence in Shakespearian Textual Studies” and Warren Chernaik (London) “Theatrical companies and their plays: Shakespeare and Marlowe”.
Please note that the venue is NOT the one publicized on the seminar website at
which says that the meeting is at Senate House on Malet Street. The reason for the change of venue is that the International Workers of Great Britain union is asking everyone to boycott Senate House in support of the building’s cleaners, receptionists, security officers, catering staff, porters, audiovisual workers, gardeners and maintenance workers, who all want to be made direct employees of the University of London on equal terms and conditions with other directly employed staff but are currently outsourced. The London Shakespeare Seminar is supporting this boycott, as are a lot of prominent individuals and learned societies and associations.
