Subject:	The Shenandoah Shakespeare EXPRESS at the Folger
Now that Michael Kahn has relocated the Shakespeare Theatre to its stunning
new theater space at the Lansburgh, the Folger Elizabethan Theatre is more
readily available for other uses. One salutary use will commence next week.
The Folger Shakespeare Library is bringing the Shenandoah Shakespeare EXPRESS
to the Theatre to perform *The Merchant of Venice*, *Macbeth*, and *The Comedy
of Errors* in repertory. I saw the Shenandoah Shakespeare EXPRESS's *Julius
Caesar* at the SAA meeting in Philadelphia a few years back. Using simple
sets and minimal costumes, this lively group of college students presents
fact-paced Shakespeare that is a joy to behold. Performances will run from
July 8 through July 19. To order tickets ($14 adults, $9 students and
children) call the Folger Library at (202) 544-7077. I think the Folger
should be commended for giving residents of the Washington, DC, area the
opportunity to see this creative theatre group, and I look forward to the next
use that the Library finds for the Elizabethan Theatre.
