George Wright's book ought indeed to be required reading...but of what
interest would it be to those burdened with theme rather than its
expression?

Marina Tarlinskaja, +English Verse: Theory and History+ trans. 1976 (The
Hague).

No credit to my memory -- I looked it up in:

Derek Attridge, +The Rhythms of English Poetry+ (London and New York,
1982), which is one of the best 'revisionist' approaches to metrics I've
encountered. [I say that a little hesitantly, never having managed to
get hold of a copy of Marina Tarlinskaja's work.]

Has anyone yet mentioned the Brogan bibliography, +Versification+,
available now on-line?
