This is an old thread, but something came in today which reminded me of
it. This was in today's Doctor Dictionary, from the website
Dictionary.com.

They quote from a book entitled _The Dreams Our Stuff Is Made Of: How
Science Fiction Conquered the World_.

What you get when you cross stychomythia and malapropism??? The quote
was used to exemplify the usage of the word "gainsay," and perhaps
contains a caveat for us all:

"In our present, imperfectly postmodern world, where most information
still takes the potentially embarrassing form of printed matter lurking
in archives, liars still must position themselves so that the historical
record may not easily gainsay them."
