Subject: Thanks for Counting

Dear SHAKSPEReans,

I want to thank everyone who has been counting to ten before hitting the
reply key. The past few weeks of editing the digests have been much more
manageable for me and even much more fun, I have even been able to
contribute myself as have other members who have been quiet for a while.
Having SHAKSPER less like a chat room and more like the academic
discussion group I wish it to be has taken some of the sting out of the
other unpeasantries in my life. In two weeks or so, I should be able to
get back to writing, annotating, reviewing, and maybe even begin editing
*The Rape of Lucrece* after finished grading papers, evaluating faculty,
writing four or five annual reports, setting up search committees,
creating a budget, and doing all of those tasks that appear to take over
my life and that are as much fun to me as a root canal surgery without

Looking forward to summer break even though I am expected to work
throughout it,
