Subject: Shakespeare J'accuse (the Independent)
Dear SHAKSPEReans
The Independent (Tuesday 24 April 2001) had an article on Shakespeare
('Shakespeare J'accuse: or Why I Blame the Bard for the Death of English
Theatre'). The online version of the article ('Much Ado about Nothing')
is available at
http://www.independent.co.uk/story.jsp?story=68302
(I don't know why the online version has a different title...) If this
link doesn't work, please go to http://www.independent.co.uk and look
for the article by entering 'Shakespeare' as a keyword.
Please be informed that throughout the article the writer confuses
Shakespeare (the man) and 'Shakespeare' (entity culturally structured
throughout generations). (At least I think he does.)
