I just got on this list, so I apologize in advance if I'm behind the
curve or am repeating someone else.
I think the reason the Ghost says "Adieu" is that it's a pun. Hamlet
wishes that his flesh would "melt, thaw and resolve itself into a dew."
As the ghost loses bodily presence, he fades into a/dew.
As Stephen Booth once said, the whole play is like that.
