Subject: GEMCS Schedule Now up on the Web

The tentative schedule for the upcoming GEMCS Conference in Philadelphia
is now up. Please check http://www.personal.psu.edu/mpl10/default.htm
for session assignments and for general conference info. (Because the
schedule is not finalized at this point, it is NOT posted on the regular
JEMCS/GEMCS server, so old links and old bookmarks will probably NOT
take you to the right place. Please use the temporary URL above until
further notice.)

In the wake of the attacks in New York and Washington DC, some scheduled
panelists have come forward with concerns about safety that may
influence decisions to attend our 2001 conference. We, the conference
organizers for this year, sincerely believe that the best thing to do in
the aftermath of these terrorist strikes is to continue living and
working as normally as possible. Therefore, with all due regard to the
victims of the attacks and their families, we wish to state clearly that
there are no plans to cancel, postpone or otherwise change the
arrangements for the meeting in Philadelphia.

Upcoming Conference Deadlines:
AV requests: September 28
Early Registration (lower rate): October 5
Hotel Reservation (at special conference rate): October 15
Presenter Registration (for inclusion in printed Program): October 19
