Subject: Shylock Tape
So, OK, I was wrong.
A few years back there was a discussion about the footage Orson Welles
shot for a film version of *MOV.* I had read that the footage was
stolen from Welles hotel room. Someone else thought it was still
available. Sorry, but I don't remember who disagreed with me.
That towel you just saw was thrown in by me. I just purchased a NTSC
tape titled *Shylock,* produced by the National Film Board of Canada.
It is a 57 examination of the character of Shylock, in part illustrated
by footage of Olivier, Dustin Hoffman, and *ORSON WELLES UNFINISHED
MERCHANT OF VENICE...* Quote from the back of the box copy.
I checked with Tanya Gough at Poor Yorick in Stratford, Ontario. She
can supply it in Canada, but for legal reasons, not to the U.S. In the
U.S. call 1-800-542-2164. The back of the box has no information for
purchasing outside the U.S. and Canada. The tape is in the NTSC format.
All the best,
Mike Jensen
