Can someone remind me please (I'm assuming that I once knew) - off-line
if needs must - why Merry Andrew is a synonym for Clown (as in
Dogberry/Kempe's speech attribution in Ado F.TLN 2002) I know that "the
Andrew" is a synonym for the RN (and I know the ship one also) but I
think that the fact that you can allegedly have a lot of fun in the navy
isn't the connection. Citation preferred but not essential.

Thanks,
Graham Hall
