Subject: Tolkien and Shakespeare

I have heard that Tolkien taught some Shakespeare classes while a
professor at Oxford - can anyone verify this?

Also, any comments about how this may have impacted his
work/similarities, etc.?

Before the last movie came out I rushed out to reread his trilogy before
the film 'wrecked' the work (and was pleasantly surprised that the film
was about as good of an adaptation as one could hope for). The reread
was better than I remembered and for some reason I haven't yet
identified reminds me of some Shakespeare works.
