A consideration of advances made in the field of Shakespeare Studies as
a consequence of the systematic introduction of 'Theory' into the field
of English Studies. Participants are invited to think beyond
straightforward applications of 'theory' to Shakespearean texts, and to
consider the various conditions of possibility involved in the
theorisation of particular critical and historical approaches to the
study of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Papers should be no longer
than 10 double-spaced typescript pages, and participants are asked to
circulate their papers in advance of the seminar.
