I come up empty on both in North America. My literature says there are
clips of the Gielgud performance on Great Hamlets, but we have only just
added it to the catalogue and I haven't had a chance to view it myself.
I was under the impression that only fragments of the production are
still extant on film, but I might be wrong. I don't know where the film
clips in Almereyda's Hamlet came from, but they're probably in an
archive somewhere that might allow you to view the whole piece, if you
can convince them. There's an out of print book by Rosamond Gilder
called "John Gielgud's Hamlet: A Record of Performance" - it's not
impossible to find online, and it contains very specific and detailed
notes on the production.

If anyone has a line on either of these titles, I would be very
interested to know as well.
