Subject: 14.2180 Malone's Apothecary
Comment: Re: SHK 14.2180 Malone's Apothecary
The extraordinarily valuable volume containing the drawings and
inscriptions by Steevens and Malone, Bodleian class-mark Arch. Gd 41,
consists of seven Shakespearian quartos bound together into a single
volume:
(1) 1594 Lucrece;
(2) 1609 Shakespeare's Sonnets;
(3) ?1622 Smethwicke quarto Hamlet;
(4) 1598 Loves Labours Lost;
(5) 1609 Pericles;
(6) 1619 Whole Centention/Pericles;
(7) 1608 Yorkshire Tragedy.
I realize that I should probably have indicated, in my edition of the
Sonnets, that Lucrece was bound up with Sonnets quarto, but I was under
a lot of pressure to keep my already rather detailed Introduction as
concise as possible.
Apologies for any confusion caused in consequence.
