Subject: Bibliography for Henry V; Dress Rehearsal

Greetings to List Members!

The first meeting of "Will's Notes", a program provided by Cincinnati
Shakespeare Festival and the Cincinnati Public Library, took place on
December 15. The event was well-attended and brought together a group
of avid Shakespeare enthusiasts with active members of the Cincinnati
Shakespeare community. Brian Isaac Phillips, the artistic director of
the CSF, will play the role of Henry V in this upcoming production. He
intends to draw in part from his previous experience in the role of Hal,
the king's son in Henry IV.

Brian was joined by a guest director and founding member of the CSF, R.
Chris Reeder, who will step into Phillips' shoes to direct Henry V.
This will permit Phillips the opportunity to and to act rather than
direct in the upcoming play.

The purpose of the "Will's Notes" program is to answer questions and
provide resources to those who look forward to the next play to be
produced by the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival.

Phillips stated that the policy of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival
is to encourage viewers to attend their dress rehearsals and afterwards
provide feedback to the company. "Pay as you can" contributions are
accepted in exchange for attendance at the Dress Rehearsal. The dress
rehearsal for "Henry V" is scheduled for Thursday, January 6th; the
curtain rises at 7:30 pm.

"Henry V" runs from Jan 6-30, 2005.

Brian kindly provided the following list of books which he has read to
prepare for his role as Henry V:

_King Henry V_, Shakespeare, Arden Edition

_Henry V, the Scourge of God_, Desmond Seward

_Collected Works_, Granville-Barker

_Good King Harry_, Denise Giardina

_Falstaff_, William Nye

_War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning_, Christopher Hedges

Our goal is to provide a bibliography in advance of the next "Will's
Notes" meeting, and to collect at the library a number of the books
listed for those attending the meeting to peruse. The next "Will's
Notes" is scheduled for Wednesday, February 2, 2005; the topic will be
the CSF's next play, "Troilus and Cressida".

Warmest regards,
Pamela Richards
