Channeling Richard
Peter's quite right - I believe it got to number 14 in the BBC's Top of
the Pops chart. It was the title song on an EP of Beatles songs which
Sellers released in 1965. To the best of my knowledge the short film of
him performing the song was pre-recorded for inclusion in a live ITV
programme devoted to Lennon and McCartney's music (which incidentally was
directed by Phillip Casson who later did the TV version of the Trevor Nunn
'Macbeth')

I think Peter (H) is right, Peter Sellers released a couple of Beatles
covers including the Richard III/Hard Day's Night parody. Not that I'm old
enough to recall such things ...

No, Peter Holland is not the only one to recall Sellers Olivier/Richard
III parody reaching the charts in the UK.
He performed it in costume on Top Of The Pops, no less, and remember the
audience laughing at the definite full stop after the words "When I'm
home... feeling you."
