For whatever it's worth, I think that Brando would have made a
superlative Lear towards the end of his life. He balances fearsome and
pathetic like few actors could/can; his turn as Paul in "Last Tango" is
probably the strongest evidence in favor of that point that I can muster.

Devastating but true, although I think Jack Lemmon's performance in
Hamlet deserved a special place in the hall of infamous Shakespeare
performances.
Denzell Washington (a fine actor) had a bit of trouble in Much Ado
handling the line breaks.
Both he and Lemmon would have benefited from a script typed with run-on
speeches. Or maybe not.
I await with interest a new production: The Quirky Hamlet.
