Subject:       SHAKSPER Performance Review Panel

In December, during a burst of energy, I shared some ideas I had regarding SHAKSPER's future, including incorporating as a not-for-profit and possibly setting up two panels modeled after and inspired by the success of the SHAKSPER Book Review Panel:

Since I have learned over the years that presenting more than one idea at a time dilutes attention to all of those presented, I thought that I would revisit these one at a time beginning with the possibility of establishing/formalizing a SHAKSPER Performance Review Panel to generate peer reviews of films, theatrical productions of particular noteworthiness in London, New York, the East and West Coasts (Boston, DC, San Francisco, LA, and so on), and major/significant shows or exhibitions like those at the Folger, Newberry, or Huntington Libraries.

This Panel will be charged with determining what films, performances, shows, or exhibitions should be reviewed, will select reviewers from procedures it determines, and will approve all reviews prior to publication on SHAKSPER. Approved reviews will first be distributed to SHAKSPER subscribers as regular digest mailings and will then be mounted on the SHAKSPER Performance Review web page of the SHAKSPER server so that they can be read online or downloaded as a pdf file.

Anyone interested in being considered as a member for the SHAKSPER Performance Review Panel should send me a brief statement (less than 250 words) of interest and qualifications and-or a current CV.

I will determine from the responses whether there is enough interest to establish this Panel, and if there is I will select Panel members from those who responded.

Should the Panel be established, one of the first issues to be considered will be possible ways to provide potential reviewers with complementary tickets.
