Subject:      Editor’s Observation

Since the hiatus to design the new web site and the establishing of new procedures for distributing posts to SHAKSPER, there has been an obvious reduction in the number and substance of the posts to this list. Further, I have no interest in primarily being an outlet for Shakespearean announcements, which have become the majority of submissions.

Some of this dramatic change is my fault. The past seven or eight months have been difficult times for me. I will not go into details, but the major surgery I had a couple of months ago has resulted in my feeling and functioning better than I have in years and promises to have even more improvements in the next six months as I continue to recover from it. Nevertheless, during my most difficult periods, I neglected distributing the posts to the list with the regularity I have done over the past twenty years or so.

Having assumed the responsibility that is mine, I now would like to make a plea to SHAKSPER’s subscribers that they resume the interesting and insightful discussions that have characterized SHAKSPER since its founding in 1990.

Any takers?

Editor of SHAKSPER
