Subject:      Women Beware Women and Shakespeare

I recently directed a production of Women Beware Women and in working through the text kept coming across what seemed like references to Shakespeare’s plays – sometimes echoes of lines, sometimes variations (often twisted) of characters and situations.  Is anyone aware of any articles that deal explicitly with Middleton’s (possible) parodying/borrowing/commenting on Shakespeare’s work in this or in his other plays?

Thank you.
