The Shakespeare Blog

The Shakespeare blog is a new blog being written by me, Sylvia Morris, from the heart of Shakespeare country. I’ve recently retired from working at the Shakespeare Centre Library and Archive in Stratford-upon-Avon following a thirty-year career.

After years of writing articles and blog articles sharing my enthusiasm for Shakespeare and the wonderful resources available in Stratford, I’m now hoping to reach even more people. The blog is already attracting readers in over 50 countries including Poland, South Africa, and Chile!

The blog look at Shakespeare particularly from the point of view of the part this area played in Shakespeare’s life, how it has developed into a centre of international tourism and the performance of his plays by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

I’m particularly keen to pick up news stories with Shakespeare connections, for instance I posted a blog about the similarity between President Obama’s statement about the death of Bin Laden and one of Shakespeare’s speeches on the day it happened. More recent posts have been on subjects like Shakespeare and science fiction and anti-Semitism in The Merchant of Venice.

The blog is at www.theshakespeareblog.com, and you can sign up for posts by using the subscribe box on the site. You can also follow me on twitter @sylvmorris1, or Facebook. Anyone can comment on the posts and Sylvia is happy to receive feedback.
