Within THE ROARING GIRL, Middleton and Dekker make clear the homoerotic purposes that Jack Dapper has for his page boy Gull. In Shakespeare’s plays, twice we have male characters asking for another person’s page—in MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM and in MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR. I’m most interested in MERRY WIVES: Why does Ford want Falstaff’s page? I think I’ve missed a detail somewhere.
