Subject: *Shrew* version and Stratford videos
I tracked down a citation to the San Francisco version of *Shrew* which
has been the object of several messages lately. According to K. Rothwell
& A. H. Melzer's _Shakespeare on Screen_ it was performed in 1976 by the
American Conservatory Theatre, San Francisco and shown on WNET/13 in
New York City. Its only apparently availability is through the
Museum of Broadcasting, 1 East 53rd St., NY, NY 10022 although you
might contact WNET.
As for Stratford videos...
When I was in Stratford this summer they had a petition going in the gift
shop to try and persuade the CBC to release videotapes of recent Stratford
productions for sale. I signed and thought that I really ought to mention
this situation to my fellow SHAKSPEReans. Perhaps a letter campaign to
the Festival for them to use as ammunition with the CBC? As a librarian,
I would welcome the chance at purchasing some other video productions
of Shakespeare's works even if filmed stage versions.
